Peru: Moviegoers allowed to bring own snacks, orders regulator

 |  February 27, 2018

Peru’s Cinemark and Cineplanet movie theatre chains will no longer be allowed to stop moviegoers from entering with drinks, snacks or similar items purchased outside the theaters, being labelled by the country’s authorities as an “abusive clause of absolute inefficiency. ”

With this measure, the theatres will have until Friday, March 2, to make the necessary withdrawal of notices banning the entry of food purchased elsewhere.

The Chamber ruled that “the restriction consisting of prohibiting consumers from entering movie theaters with food and / or beverages acquired outside the commercial establishment (…) constitutes an abusive clause of absolute ineffectiveness that limits the rights of consumers.”
