Mexico: COFECE finds collusion among information-gathering companies

 |  October 23, 2017

Mexico’s Federal Commission for Economic Competition (Cofece) has announced results in an investigation on three companies, Especialistas en Medios SA, SVS Internacional and Delfos Comunicación, Mercado y Prospectiva, over an alleged collusion in information synthesis services performed for public agencies such as the Presidency, Mexico City’s government and Pemex, among several other clients.

The antitrust watchdog called the companies present evidence in their defense. The investigation, which dates back to 2015, says it has sufficient evidence to charge both companies and individuals for their participation in collusive practices.

“We cannot make statements during the research process to the media monitoring market, and we will be respectful of the recommendations issued by COFECE on the subject,” said Raúl Serrano, who represented Especialistas en Medios SA in tenders with various public agencies.

COFECE has yet to define whether the elements presented by the Investigating Authority are enough to punish the individuals and companies identified in the investigation.
