Dominican Republic: Cervecería Nacional responds to regulator’s claims

 |  March 27, 2018

Dominican Republic’s brewer Cervecería Nacional Dominicana (CND) responded to allegations issued by the National Commission for the Defense of Competition in its study entitled “Economic analysis on the conditions of competition of the beer market in the Dominican Republic”, in which the brewer is accused of resorting to anti-competitive practices.

“Reality demonstrates the opposite. The publicly available economic data show an increase in the market share of competing companies and the entry of new agents in the beer market. The distortion between the investigation and the reality of our business practices is the result of insufficient information with which the research was conducted,” the brewer declared in its statement.

The CND signed a merger agreement in 2012 with multinational AMBEV, which controls various brands in the country. The brewer has 20 days to present its defense before the regulator.
