Brazil: CADE approves Arauco purchase of Masisa plants

Brazilian competition watchdog CADE has approved the acquisition of US$103 million in assets belonging to rival Masisa to continue. T he purchase comprises two wood-panel production plants, with a production capacity of 800,000 cubic meters.

“We are very happy with this approval, which reflects our commitment and interest in Brazil. With this acquisition we consolidate our leadership as producers of wood panels for the furniture and decoration industry,” said Charles Kimber, for Arauco

Following the acquisition, Arauco will become the second largest producer of wood panels globally, with 10 million cubic meters per year.
