Joel Bamford
Joel is Director of Mergers at the CMA, where he is responsible for a portfolio of merger cases and the CMA’s international work on mergers. Most recently Joel has led the 21CF/Sky public interest investigation.
Prior to working at the CMA Joel was the Advocacy Manager at the New Zealand Commerce Commission with responsibility for the policy,education and international portfolio.
Joel is an experienced competition economist having managed a range of enforcement and merger cases at both the Commission and the OFT. Joel has also worked as an economist in central government, leading on matters as diverse as poverty strategy and econometric modelling of benefit reform.
