CPI, together with ACT | The App Association and its Innovators Network Foundation (INF) is organizing a two-part webinar to focus on The Vital Role of SEPs in the contest of growing development of emerging technologies.
Standardized solutions are vital to the development and deployment of critical and emerging technologies, raising important questions at the intersection of standardization, patent, and competition policies that policymakers and courts across key jurisdictions continue to grapple with. As one example, the European Union has recently advanced a new proposed Standard-Essential Patent (SEP) Regulation to address these questions. More broadly, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is implementing a SEP Strategy to alleviate concerns raised by the global technology standards community. Across established and new markets, from telecom to auto to artificial intelligence, it is vital that those impacted by SEP policies carefully track and influence its development.
