On October 31, 2024, CPI broadcast a virtual series on Competition in Mobile Ecosystems: Enforcement vs. Regulatory Approaches that we organized in collaboration with the Antitrust Association at Harvard Law School.

The three sessions featured discussions with international experts on topics including mobile duopoly regulation versus antitrust enforcement, hardware and software interoperability in mobile devices, and developments in app distribution within the U.S. and EU.

Mobile Duopoly: Regulation v. Antitrust Enforcement, a View from Enforcers

Panelists will analyze recent cases and policy developments, such as the DMA, Japan mobile bill, and UK DMCC. The panel will draw lessons from these cases and policy developments, discussing what works and what doesn’t in terms of promoting competition and consumer welfare in mobile ecosystems. Finally, the panel will discuss future directions for regulation and antitrust enforcement in mobile ecosystems, including potential new approaches and challenges.
